Lyndia Grant Board Member.png

Lyndia Grant, National President
Delighted to serve as president of the esteemed Gamma Phi Delta Foundation, Lyndia has served as  a member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority for more than 40 years. During her tenure in the sorority, she served in every role in the chapter except finance. Positions have ranged from Chapter President, to Regional Director, Assistant Regional Director, Grammateus, Youth Advisor and Editor, to appointments by three national presidents.

Lyndia Grant is a seasoned talk show host and founderof The Lyndia Grant Show – “Think on These Things.” The show airs on Radio One on WYCB AM, Washington, DC every Friday at 6:00 pm.

Detroit became her home-away-from-home for 15 years when she was hired as the event planner and fundraiser by Lewis College of Business, Michigan’s only historically black college. Raising hundreds of thousands of dollars from some of Motown’s favorites like Ford Motor Company,  Motown Museum, Chrysler, and General Motors. She enjoyed commuting back-and-forth to Detroit to meet with sponsors. Some of the honorees included Congressman John Conyers, The Winans, Martha Reeves, basketball star, Grant Hill, and actress Kim Fields.

She is a nationally know syndicated newspaper columnist. Her Religion Corner was picked up by the National Newspapers Association (NNPA); and by Black Press USA, read by readers of nearly one thousand black owned newspapers nationally.

A professional speaker/trainer, Lyndia is a member of the Les Brown Platinum speakers. She served as special guest speaker for the Office of the Lt. Governor, US Virgin  Islands, the Island of St. Croix, for state employees flown in  from St. Martins and St. John.

Experienced with events coordination, Lyndia has coordinated major ranging from two U.S. Presidents, Democrats and Republicans, two DC Mayors, to several DC City Council Members.

A national monument maker, Lyndia served as project director of the African American Civil War Memorial from the 1991 groundbreaking to the 1998 unveiling; you can see Lyndia on CNN, CSPAN, as the unveiling was seen on 163 TV stations across the nation and around the world.

Lyndia earned her BA degree and MA degree in the field of Communications from Trinity Washington University.

LaVerne Wilson, National Vice-President
La Verne Wilson is Vice President of the Gamma Phi Delta Foundation, Inc. and has been a member of the board since November 2007, appointed by Dr. Willie B. Kennedy and served as Director of Scholarships from then to present. She is a Life Member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc., and on the national level, she is a Past Editor-in-Chief of which she served for 12 years, 1994-2006. She is the developer and manager of the Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. website and in 2004 she received the Rose Pin Award, one of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc.’s highest honors. In 2014, she received the honor of becoming a Living Pearl, another high honor in Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. She also recently received the 40-year Pin and the Gem Pin awards at the 2016 National Convention.   She was the Far Western Regional Editor of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc., from 1991 to 2002 and currently serves in that position since 20ll. In 1993 she received the honor of Far Western Region Woman of the Year and in 2001 earned the distinction of Far Western Region Editor Emeritus. Director Wilson is the publisher of The Echoes of the Far Western Region and the creator and publisher of the Sister to Sistah Newsletter, both publications of the Far Western Region.

Director Wilson has been a member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc., Delta Chi Chapter since 1974. On the chapter level she has held the positions of President, 2nd Vice President, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Rosebud Advisor, Junior Cavalier/Cavalier Advisor and currently serves as Chapter President. In 1991 she received a National Helping Hands Award for her efforts in starting a new Undergraduate Chapter, Delta Xi, in Berkeley, CA, and many other awards on  the regional and national levels of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority,  Inc.

In addition, she serves as the Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW Auxiliaries, Department of California Youth Activities Chairman, dedicated to ensuring that all Veterans, youth, their families and the communities are aware of the programs that the VFW offers in California. Director Wilson is also the owner and operator of Wilson Streamline Photography and Printing. She resides in Los Angeles, California. After 56 years of marriage to the late Ellis Wilson, she is a widow of five years with ten wonderful children and their spouses, twenty-six outstanding grandchildren and thirteen beautiful great-grandchildren.

Katie Broughton, Immediate Past President Katie Broughton is the Immediate Past President of Gamma Phi Delta Foundation, Inc. (October 2011-July 2016). She is also a Lifetime Member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. Katie has served in several leadership positions on the local, regional and national level: Chapter President (1990-1994); Regional Director (2007-2009); National Secretary (1994- 1998) and National 2nd Vice President (1998-2006).

She is a hard worker and dedicate much of her efforts toward community service. In 1998, Katie was appointed to serve on the “Dwight D. Eisenhower People-to People Program” for the purpose of studying educational archived records in Taipei, Taiwan. Katie graduated from The University of Houston with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Also, she received a dual Bachelor’s Degree from Liberty University (Major: Psychology with Minor in Theology). She is retired and currently resides in Houston, Texas while enjoying all aspects of her lifestyle such as traveling, shopping and doll collection.

Mary E. Porter, Board Member

In 1997 Mary joined Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. as a charter member of Mu Omicron Chapter in the Eastern Region. Mary has enjoyed almost 20 years of uninterrupted service with GPD. She is a life member and a Gamma Girl for life. During her almost 20 years, she has held the chapter positions of Basileus, First Anti-Basileus, Second Anti-Basileus, Tamias, finance chairperson, fundraiser chairperson, social action chairperson and membership chairperson. In addition, she has also held the Regional positions of Regional Financial Grammateus and Assistant Regional Director. On the national level, she has served on the National Finance Committee for the past four years, the National Scholarship Committee and the National Scrapbook Committee.

 

 

Deborah Hudson, Board Member

Deborah Hudson is a member of the Southern Region Alpha Pi Chapter in Montevallo, Alabama. She is a devoted member since 1995 serving on various committees and offices. She served as chapter President, Vice President, Youth Adviser, Undergraduate Chapter Adviser, Assistant Regional Director, Regional Director, Regional Youth Adviser, and National Literature Review Committee. Hudson is also a Lifetime Member, Heritage Tile, and Plant a Brick Participate. She is involved in community and church activities such as: Council Member District 5 Town of Wilton, Mayor Pro-Tem, and 11th Area Community Action Board Member. Hudson obtained a Bachelor degree in Business Administration with a double Major in Marketing and Management from The University of Montevallo in 1978.

Joesther Bursie, Board Member

Joesther Bursie has been a life member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority since 1998. She has held many positions while serving nationally. While Bursie was the Supreme 1st Basileus, she set new records in new chapter development, recruitment and designed new membership documents including: "Putting The Pieces Together." She also redeveloped the national membership recruiting process and materials. She provided training for local and regional national officers in the use of the new procedures.

Bursie is the recipient of the Ambassadors award for membership and the recipient of the Supreme Basileus Award for meritorious service.

She received a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D from United Baptist Seminary.

Bursie has worked in school social work for Detroit Public Schools for 25 years.

Kartressa Bell, Board Member

Kartessa Bell’s mission is to inspire women and youth to perceive and accelerate their future with positive thinking and actions. Trained as a writer, researcher, educator, and organizer, she has a background in communications, project management, strategic planning and leadership, instructional coaching, music, and fitness. Mahatma Gandhi stated, "the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." 

During the twenty years, Kartessa has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service helping organizations build momentum in a world that is changing rapidly in seconds each day while bringing critical issues affecting women and children to the forefront. While she enjoys reading, shopping, and providing creative solutions to complex problems, her greatest joy is when she uses her God-given talents to uplift families and communities.

Jennifer Jones, Board Member

Jennifer Jones is a member at large in the Quad States. A life member Jennifer has served in various positions on the Chapter and Regional Level. Jennifer, a Navy veteran, was a communication supervisor working under the command of Vice-Admiral Samuel Lee Gravely Jr.,  a United States Naval officer. He was the first African American in the U.S. Navy to serve aboard a fighting ship as an officer, the first to command a Navy ship, the first fleet commander, and the first to become a flag officer. 

She has worked many jobs in the Civilian sector everything from banquets to escalation clerk for ATT. A graduate of Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas she serves on the National and Chapter level of the Alumni.  Jennifer has worked with a High School alumnus, and a HBCU coalition to give scholarship monies to students for college. She has chaired many times the Huston-Tillotson University Concert choir scholarship fund raiser. Trained in 504 accommodations she often assists ADD and ADHD children. 

Currently, she works with organizations promoting, supporting and showcasing HBCU.

Diana A. Minor was inducted into Beta Phi Chapter (Toledo, OH) of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Incorporated on May 1, 1999 as a charter member. She is a Life Member who has served at the National, Regional and Chapter levels. At the National level, she was appointed to serve as the Audit Chairperson and the Budget Officer. In 2016 and again in 2020, she was elected to serve as the National First Vice President. Ms. Minor was elected to serve as the Regional Director and Nominating Chairperson on the Regional level. She was also appointed to serve as the Region’s Audit Chairperson. At the chapter level, she was elected to the positions of Chapter President, First Vice-President (Membership), Financial Secretary, Undergraduate Advisor, and Parliamentarian. Diana has a Bachelor of Arts Degree, an Associate in Applied Business in Paralegal Studies and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in governmental accounting and non-profit finance, all from the University of Toledo.

Now retired, after working in corporate America as a supervising internal auditor, and a Budget Analyst for the government. Ms. Minor has served as the board president for a non-profit organization. She served many years as a Girl Scout troop leader for girls of all ages. Diana is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and is a Past Worthy Matron.

She is the proud mother of a daughter and grandmother of two awesome granddaughters. Ms. Minor is an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she currently serves as the Finance Chairperson and Christian Education Director.

Ms. Minor has a unique collection of 25 black porcelain dolls, all of which she made.

Dr. Veronica Yates-Riley

Dr. Veronica Yates-Riley, Board Member

Veronica Yates-Riley is from Orlando, Florida and has extensive experience in the fields of administration supervision, technology, and communication. Her major strengths are: public speaking, personnel development, curriculum and instruction, communication and customer service. Yates-Riley has a variety of certifications including an Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB) from Toastmasters International. She is also an experienced presenter and frequently gives presentations at conferences. Her community service affiliations include: Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, The Links Incorporated, Jones High School Historical Society and St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Patricia Brown, Treasurer Patricia is the daughter of the late William C. and Janie L. Brown, mother of one son, grandmother of nine and great grandmother of five.  She retired as a Manager from the State of California after 30 years. 

She is a member of Century Chapel C.M.E. Church in Sacramento, California, where she works as the Administrative Assistant to the Pastor, Vice Chairperson of the Finance Board, and Recording Steward. Previously served eight years as the Local Missionary Society President. Additionally, Patricia serves on the District Level as a member of the Compilation Committee and the Northern California Region as the Finance Chairperson. Patricia makes herself available to assist whenever needed.  

Patricia is a member of Delta Chapter, Gamma Phi Delta Business and Professional Women Sorority for 10 years, were she served as the Treasurer and President.  At the past Far Western Regional Conference, she was elected as the Far Western Regional Director.   

Patricia enjoys serving as a member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority and in her local church. She believes that her faith in God is what keeps her going. She states, "She can do all things through Christ who strengthens her and provides her with all of her needs."

Lenor Reese, National President - Gamma Phi Delta Sorority

Lenor Reaves Reese is the 13th National President of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc.  A Life Member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc., Mrs. Reese has served the sorority at the National, regional and chapter levels.

Mrs. Reese was initiated into Mu Omicron Chapter on May 24, 1997 as a charter member serving as the chapter’s first President.  In addition, she served as the First Vice-President (Membership), Second Vice-President (Scholarships), Financial Secretary and Youth Advisor.  She has also served as the Eastern Region Director and Eastern Assistant Region Director.  

She was employed in the Federal government for 33 years and retired as the Director of the Human Resources Policy Division (Headquarters) of the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, DC.

She is committed to serving the community and gives untiringly of her time.

Alma L. Baltimore, Board Member

Alma L. Baltimore lives in Indianapolis, Indiana and is an active member of Gamma Chapter, Mid-Western Region; inducted on June 23, 1985. She is a life member and has served as chapter President, Vice-President, Financial Secretary and Chapter Undergraduate Advisor. She has also served as the Mid-Western Regional Director and currently serves as the Regional Financial Secretary. She has also chaired and/or served on numerous committees on the local, regional and national levels of the organization.   

Alma earned her Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Management from IUPUI and Indiana Wesleyan University. She retired from Bank One after 33 years of service as AVP Human Resources Employee Relations Officer. In this position she was responsible for counseling employees and managers in Indiana and Illinois to assist in conflict resolution, issued disciplinary action, provided training, responded to all discrimination complaints and charges, wrote and managed the Affirmative Action Plans. Additionally, she worked as a consultant in salary administration, employee benefits and retirement services.

To remain active, she obtained her Insurance License and currently is a part-time Insurance Agent in the family’s All Lines Independent Insurance Agency. Alma is committed to helping others. She is very active in her chapter, church and community where she willingly shares her finances, gifts, talents and time. She is a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. 

 

Andrea Wright, Board Member

Andrea Wright has been a proud lifetime member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. since 1996. A new member to the Foundation Board, but Soror Wright is not new to leadership in Gamma Phi Delta. She was the youngest elected Director of the Great Northern Region from 1999-2003. Under her term, the Northern region experienced exponential growth. Initiated into Alpha Omega Chapter in 1993, Soror Wright was jumped in head first, being elected 1st Anti-Basileus, then Basileus. Serving on multiple National, regional and local committees, Soror Wright set the tone for the region going into the 21st century. Soror Wright relocated to Texas in 2011 and transferred her member to Delta Phi chapter. There she served as the chapter 1st Anti-Basileus before taking a leave of absence. A seasoned municipal Budget & Finance professional, she is now the Assistant Director over Fiscal & Administrative Services for the Public Events Department, with the City of Fort Worth. Andrea leads the departments financial operations totaling over $82M, as well as administrative & HR processes for the 138 FTE department. Andrea has been with CFW for 11 years and has recently completed Venue Management School.

Andrea has a vast knowledge and understanding of municipal finance and over 20 years of proficiency in identifying and analyzing trends, while being an objective leader with demonstrated success. Andrea is also retired from the City of Pontiac, MI. Andrea was elected to the Pontiac General Employee Retirement System board (GERS) in 2006; and re-elected in 2008 and 2010. Andrea served with integrity and diligence. During Andrea’s time on the pension board, the funds’ assets grew from $401M to $422M.

Andrea was elected to the Fort Worth Employees Retirement Fund Board in 2018; reelected three times. In 2022, she was elected Vice Chair of the Board, becoming the first African American in this role. She is the Chair of the Audit & Budget committee & a member of the Executive & Communications. She is an active member of the National Forum of Black Public Administrators & serves on the Nominating Committee.

Andrea is also on the Nominating committee of the Fort Worth City Credit Union. Andrea has been the Treasurer of Region 6 of the International Association of Venue Managers.

Andrea is an avid sports fan and cheers for her hometown teams in Cleveland, OH. Andrea earned a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Kent State University, a Master’s degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. She is a life member of Kent State’s alumni association; active in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (FWA), where she’s an elected member of the nominating committee. Andrea takes care of her 92 year old parents and enjoys spending time with them and her two young adult children and grandson.

Loriah Norman, Board Member

Loriah Norman was initiated into Xi Chapter (Chicago, IL) of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. on June 2008. She is a Life Member who has served at the National, Regional, and local levels. Loriah has a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Keller Graduate School of Management, and Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois State University. She also has a certification to teach Etiquette to children and teens. She’s worked in the banking industry for 15yrs and enjoys her fast pace in the Financial District of Chicago. Loriah Norman was appointed to serve as the National Theme chairperson. She was elected to serve as the Assistant Regional Director for the Mighty Midwestern region from 2013-2017. During her 2 terms as an ARD she diligently worked to reactivate Alpha Eta Chapter (UG) at the University of Illinois. She feels her biggest accomplishment includes inducting many Members-At-Large that led to the chartering of Epsilon Delta May 20, 2018 in South Bend, Indiana. At the chapter level she was elected to the positions of First Vice-President (Membership), Grammateus, Tamias, and Undergraduate Advisor. Loriah Norman is currently the First Vice-President for Xi Chapter, co-chair for the Council of Undergraduate Membership, and the Undergraduate Advisor. One of her most rewarding contributions was working on the National Member Manual, in addition to the Alcohol & Drug Policy. “The long nights and conference calls with Sorors was a great experience and a labor of love. Recruitment and growth is my passion, which is integral for a successful organization.” In 2018 Xi Chapter honored Loriah Norman with the “Soror Of The Year” award.  Loriah is currently an Executive Board Member for the National Society of Leadership and Success at DeVry University, Chicagoland chapter, where she’s the Treasurer for all 7 campuses. On her own, Loriah also volunteers at The Ronald McDonald House on a monthly basis. She also a Chemo Angel for patients going thru cancer treatments through the Chemo Angel Organization.

Keisha Kimbrough, Board Member

Keisha Kimbrough became a charter member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc., Delta Alpha Chapter, Southern Region in 2003.  She served as the chapter’s financial secretary from 2003 - 2010.  She has also served as the financial secretary for the Southern Region for many years.  Keisha has recently been re-elected to serve as treasurer for the Southern Region. Her dedication is evident in her 13 years of employment as an Accountant.   

Keisha received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Belhaven University in 2002.  She is a graduate of the Parents for Public Schools Leadership Institute, Jackson, Mississippi.  This has given her the opportunity to work with a large network of community leaders to educate and engage parents through strategies and programs which will improve the overall educational outcomes for all children. Keisha has also served as a board member of her children’s local PTA and Site Council. 

She has received many awards for her commitment and devotion and she remains a dedicated, hardworking, enthusiastic person who has a strong interest in serving the community.

Verna McCallister, Financial Secretary Verna McCallister is a native of California, born and raised in San Diego and now lives in Oakland. She has a BS degree in Marketing. She is retired from Johnson and Johnson where she was a Retail District Manager with 20 people reporting to her. She had the largest territory in the United States which was Northern CA and NV, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, and Colorado. She currently works as a substitute teacher in the San Leandro School District. She has served in both National Financial positions for Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. and now she is the Far Western Regional Director. She currently serves as the Northern California Region Missionary Vice President of the CME Church and works in her local church. She has four grandchildren and stays extremely busy.

Pinkie Sanders, Board Member

Pinkie Wright Sanders has truly been an outstanding member to Gamma Phi Delta. She is the Charter Basileus of Alpha Phi Chapter in Orlando, Florida. She has served as Basileus of the chapter for six different terms - a total of 12 years. She has organized five chapters - the Delta Delta Chapter of Tampa, Florida, the Eta Chapter at University of South Florida, the Beta Chi Upsilon Chapter at Bethune Cookman University, the Tau Alpha Chapter of Tallahassee, Florida, and the Nu Chi Chapter of Greensboro, North Carolina. She was instrumental in establishing the following: The First Phi-Teens of Alpha Phi Chapter, The Rosettes of Spring, served as Chair of the Tenth and Twentieth Anniversaries of Alpha Phi Chapter, also served as Chair of the first honoring of the First Ladies of Central Florida Churches, and chaired the committee on establishing the South Atlantic Region in 1987. She is a life member, Gamma Gem, and is holding the highest honor in the Gamma Phi Delta Sorority as a “Living Pearl.”

Vicki Castleberry, Board Member

Vicki B. Castleberry was born September 6, 1957, in Palestine, Texas. She was given the name Vicki by the nurse that assisted in her delivery, stating that in French Vicki meant beautiful and strong. She is a member of the Nu Chapter Gamma Phi Delta Sorority in Tyler, Texas where she has held many offices since 2005.  She has also served on The Foundation Board for several years.

Vicki worked for thirty-two years in Public Education, seventeen years as a coach, and fifteen years in administration before retiring and starting her own business, Rene’s Salon & Boutique. Vicki has also been in cosmetology for more than twenty-five years. She has extensive experience in working with children of all ages in public education. Since retiring Vicki spends part of her time assisting high school students with college classes.

Vicki attends Greater Saint Mary Baptist Church and serves in the Health Ministry, Usher Board and is a Deaconess. She lives in Coffee City, on Lake Palestine, Texas, with her husband Marquis and dog Petey.

Annetta C. James, Board Member

Annetta C. James was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and attended Knoxville City Schools, is Lane College and is a graduate of Draughon’s Junior College, she also earned an Associates of Theology with a concentration in Church Administration and Christian Education from Covington Theology Seminary in 2017.

Presently she is employed at Rogers Memorial Baptist Church, where she holds the position of Church Administrator.  Her administrative duties are to assist church ministry heads in developing and promoting policies and procedures.  Provide guidance and consultation to members of various ministries.  Identify and implement ways to nourish and comfort parishioners.  Assist the pastor in every way possible in carrying out his leadership and pastoral duties.

Annetta is a Member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc., the National Council of Negro Women, the Fabulous Red Hatters, Tennessee Baptist Missionary and Education Convention, Inc.  She is presently a member of Compassion Coalition of Knoxville, Tennessee Advisory Council, and she also a member of Alzheimer’s Tennessee Advisory Board.

Dr. Barbara Jean Johnson, Board Member

Dr. Barbara Jean Johnson Member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority for 31 years. Michele Hallman, Board Member

Michele Hallman is a tax attorney with over 25 years of experience handling tax controversy matters, tax preparation and tax and financial planning.  Ms. Hallman is a principal in Taxology LLC, a tax and law firm serving the DC metropolitan area that represents individuals and businesses before the IRS and the United States Tax Court. Ms. Hallman has experience in handling civil tax audits and criminal tax matters, including tax evasion and tax return preparer fraud. She has represented individuals, businesses, business owners, tax return preparers and trust beneficiaries in all tax controversy matters.  

She has worked as a litigator and labor negotiator for the District of Columbia Government, and has worked as a Trust Attorney for Fortune 50 financial services companies such as Citicorp, Wells Fargo and US Trust Private Wealth Management.  In these positions within the Private Bank, she advised high net worth individuals with investable assets between $5 million to $70 million, and devised sophisticated tax mitigation strategies designed to preserve their generational wealth. Ms. Hallman also served as the Director of Compliance for Calvert Impact Capital, where she managed the investment regulatory compliance for Calvert Impact Capital’s Community Investment Note, as well as its’ taxable subsidiary, Community Investment Partners, a registered investment advisory firm.

Ms. Hallman graduated with honors from Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana and is barred in Louisiana and the District of Columbia.  She is admitted to practice before the Internal Revenue Service and the United States Tax Court. She is also a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) and the National Society of Accountants (NSA), and volunteers with the IRS administered Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) which offers free tax help to people who make $53,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.   

 

Pamela F. Roberts, Board Member

Pamela began her journey in Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. in 1971 in Orlando, Florida as a Phi Teen. She was inducted into Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. in 1986, as the Charter Basileus of the Delta Delta Chapter.

Mrs. Roberts currently serves as the National Second Vice President and is a Life Member. She has also served in numerous positions including Acting National Third Vice President, National Youth Musician and MEEPS Chair, Regional Recording Secretary and Treasurer, Chapter President, 1st Vice President,

Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Undergraduate Advisor and Parliamentarian. She served thirty- five years in the School District of Hillsborough County as a Music Teacher, Resource Teacher, and Principal. She received many awards during this time including the Ida S. Baker Distinguished Minority Educator of the Year Award and Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of South Florida.

She is the mother of three children, one stepson and grandmother of four grandsons and two granddaughters. Mrs. Roberts is a member of St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church where she serves on the Usher Board and has also served the community as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels,

Metropolitan Ministries, Adopt a Precinct, and Bible Study Fellowship Group Leader.
