The Gamma Phi Delta Foundation, Inc. was established by the Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc., by vote of the Administrative Board in October of 1987.

The Foundation was established to administer the education and youth scholarships and to provide a tax exempt corporation to receive bequests, contributions, grants, legacies, and gifts of property which are deductible by donors when computing taxable income. 

The Internal Revenue Service granted the Foundation the Federal Tax Exempt status on June 2, 1988.
